HISTORIC RIFLE PIT WAGON TRAIN SITE

Nearby in April 1876, Indians ambushed a wagon train heading for Custer. The teamsters dug rifle pits for defensive positions. Spent cartridges and burned wagons were found, but the fate of the men was unknown.
