GOLDEN SLIPPER MINE

The Golden Slipper mine, which together with the Forrest City mine, was operated by Empire Gold Mines in 1939-1940. It was quite a development, having its own powerhouse. There were many miner’s cabins, a big mill, and a boarding house. The Golden Slipper was discovered in 1893. It yielded gold and silver, earning about $3.30 per ton.
