Actually a tower in name only. This is a high point in the Black Hills but never had a fire tower. When it was first inventoried, by General Crooks in 1875, the peak was given the name Crooks Tower and/or Crooks Monument.
Standing at 7129 feet it is just 88 feet less than Harney Peak(Black Elk), the highest peak in South Dakota.
